The Review
I first came across Baxter of California whilst surfing the net and the iconic blue packaging caught my eye. Unlike some of the more well-known skincare brands out there, Baxter  focuses only on Men’s skincare, making it highly suitable for skin that is traditionally more oily, thick and rough. The products are made in the USA, and they have been since 1965 when the company started. And on the upside, the products are created without any animal derivatives and are not tested on animals.

The face wash uses coconut derived ingredients and is infused with antioxidants such as ginseng and aloe, which can help protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun.

On initial use of the product I found that it removed excess oil which is something that I needed in a cleanser seeing as I have a typical T zone/combination skin type.

I also felt that it didn’t over dry my skin, which is something that I’ve found to be the problem with many commercially available cleaners such as the Neutrogena Rapid Clear 2-in-1 cleanser/mask and the Loreal Men Expert Pure & Matte Charcoal Black Scrub which I have both previously tested. The overall result was that my skin felt more smooth refreshed and definitely less “tight”.

My favourite aspects of this cleaner is that it’s both fragrance free and low foaming, which was something that I have been looking for in a face cleanser for quite some time. This therefore means that the product is quite mild on your skin, and does not leave a burning or tingling sensation like many cleaners out there that contain either menthol or benzyl peroxide.

Pump, Add water, Lather. Low foam and fragrance free.

I consider my skin type to be on the more sensitive side and this cleanser was compatible with my skin on all fronts. If you’re used to using a cleaners that are foaming or contain microbeads, it may take a bit of time to get used to this product. I found the consistency of this cleanser to be a lot thinner and due to its low foaming nature, it may be temping to use a lot of product each wash when it’s really not needed.

Bigger than most! 300ml vs 150ml

After using the cleaner consistently day and night over more than 6 months, I have seen a direct improvement in the tone, texture and evenness of my skin. Despite some recommendations to change skin products periodically, I’ve been extremely happy with the results of the products and will definitely be sticking to it in the mean time.

A few other things
As with all face cleaners, it’s recommended that you wash your face with warm water twice a day (morning and night), which will help release your skin’s tension and assist in loosening all the dark spots that clog up your pores.
And most importantly, always remember to moisturise after cleansing!

Bottom Line
If you’re looking for a fragrance free, low foaming, every day face wash that will suit most skin types, look no further.
