I originally thought I didn’t have any new favourites for May, but when I looked over my skincare and makeup stash I realised that there were definitely some stand outs this month. My skin was playing up so a lot of these products have been to help out the breakouts I’ve been having.
The first product is my La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo. I always turn to this product when my skin is breaking out. It’s fragrance free which is a bonus, is easy to apply and light on the skin. It helps clear out breakouts and prevent new ones without irritating my skin and drying it out. It’s great for those tiny bumps that you can get under your skin. I apply it to my whole face after toning and before moisturising.
My next favourite is Sunday Riley’s Artemis Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil. Now this product is in a little sample pot that I received from Mecca. The girl said that it’s amazing for balancing out the oil production of your skin and hydrating the dry areas. She gave me an extremely generous sample so I have been using it for most of this month. I have to say that I’m a huge fan and agree with her. It is more viscous than any other oil I have ever used but definitely one of the best. I reserve it for nightly use only because it is a heavier oil. My skin feels more balanced and I found that it helped my breakouts. To use it I take some oil in my hands, warm the product up between my palms and press it into my skin. The only thing that I dislike about the product is the scent. I am not a fan but will continue to use it because I love the results.
The Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair II is also back in my daily rotation. It is a serum that is light on the skin and doesn’t leave any tackiness after you after apply it. While I haven’t noticed an improvement in the radiance of my skin, I have noticed an improvement in the texture and it has helped with my breakouts which is something that I wasn’t expecting!
My last skincare favourite is my Cure Natural Aqua Gel. I have been using this consistently this month. I have written about it in a previous blog post about my favourite facial exfoliators (link!) so I would definitely check that out if you were interested. It is basically a gel exfoliant that you apply onto your face, let it set for a couple of minutes and then remove by using circular motions with your fingertips. It leaves my skin super soft afterwards!
In terms of makeup, my favourite product has been Rimmel’s blush in Genuine Plum which I featured here and here. As mentioned in the previous posts, it is a matte rosy pink blush. It’s not the most pigmented blush out there but the colour is absolutely perfect for this time of year is you’re after a pink blush. I’ve been using this on an almost daily basis.
My last favourite is my MAC lipstick in Plumful (swatch below). This is always a favourite around autumn and winter time. It is a pinky-plum shade that has lustre formulation so it has a lovely sheen to it. It’s comfortable to wear on the lips and is perfect for everyday wear. On my lips, it’s an amped up version of my lip colour which is probably why I love it so much. It pairs beautifully with Rimmel’s Genuine Plum blush. I am wearing the blush and the lipstick in my recent outfit post here.
What products have you been loving this month? I’d love to hear them!
