Copenhagen Coffee Guide

Nothing makes me more excited than finding out that the city we are visiting has great coffee. We spent 3 nights in Copenhagen and in between sightseeing we stopped at different coffee places to try and find the best coffee that the city had to offer. There were some great places and we have rounded up our top 3 places to get the best coffee in Copenhagen. If you’re a coffee lover like myself, this post is for you!

Original Coffee

Original Coffee has 4 locations in Copenhagen: Illum department store, Bredgade, Strandvejen and Nordre Frihavnsgade. We visited the original location which is in the Illum department store. There is ample seating inside, but there is also a terrace that surrounds half the cafe. It is the perfect spot on a nice day to escape the hustle and bustle of the main city area and people watch while enjoying your coffee. The coffee was not as punchy as the next two places, but it was still great and a place that I would recommend you check out, especially if you’re in the city.

Best for: a quick stop while exploring the main city area

Address (Illum location):
Illum, Østergade 52,
1001 København K,
Denmark

Opening Hours:
Weekdays : 10am–8pm
Saturday : 10am–8pm
Sunday : 10am–8pm

The Coffee Collective

The Coffee Collective is described as a specialty coffee micro roastery and has three locations: Godthåbsvej, Jægersborggade and Torvehallerne. We ended up at the Torvehallerne location which is perfect for those of you who love markets. The cafe is inside the market hall and is amongst various other stalls selling things from fresh fruits and vegetables to skincare. It has seating both indoors and outdoors and is in the perfect place to people watch – we all know I love people watching! I absolutely loved the coffee and the vibe of this place so if you if you can only make one coffee stop, let this be it.

Best for: Enjoying a delicious coffee while watching the world go by

Address (Torvehallerne location):
Vendersgade 6D
1363 Copenhagen K
Denmark

Opening Hours:
Weekdays : 7am – 8pm
Saturdays : 8am – 7pm
Sundays : 8am– 6pm

Copenhagen Coffee Lab

Copenhagen Coffee Lab roast their own beans and have two locations – one in Copenhagen and one in Lisbon, Portugal. This place is slightly hidden under a row of houses and if it wasn’t for the sign out the front, we would have missed it! There is an array of seating options from standard chairs and tables in the front section to comfy armchairs in the back.

If you’re looking for a quiet place to work on your laptop or do some reading then this is your cafe. While the cafe was full of people working away on their laptops, it happened to be really quiet inside so I don’t recommend coming here in a large group. The coffee is strong and punchy and they also have a small selection of pastries to choose from. Do note, this place does not have wifi.

Best for: A quiet place to work on your laptop, read a book or just relax

Address:
Strandlodsvej 48
2300 Copenhagen, Denmark

Opening Hours:
Weekdays : 7:30am – 6:00pm
Saturday : 10am – 5pm
Sunday : 11am – 5pm
